Roblox Shirt Template Fine Details: Do Thin Gaps Survive Export?

In our controlled shirt-editor test, a larger source PNG did not make three narrow transparent gaps wider in the downloaded file. At 45% Image size, the center-row gaps measured 1, 2, and 2 pixels with both 150 × 150 and 600 × 600 sources. At 60%, both produced 3, 2, and 2 pixels. If a tiny detail is hard to see, inspect the exported PNG and change its design or final size; increasing source resolution alone may leave it just as small.

This is a flat PNG export measurement of geometric cutouts, not a test of text legibility or appearance on an avatar.

How we made a comparable fine-detail pattern

We drew an opaque red square in the center third of a transparent PNG and cut three fully transparent vertical slots through it. One source was 150 × 150 with a 50 × 50 red area and 1-pixel slots. The other was 600 × 600 with a 200 × 200 red area and 4-pixel slots. Every dimension in the second source was four times the first, so the visible pattern had the same proportions rather than a different design.

For each source, we made fresh imports into this site's editor at 45% and 60% Image size, dragged the image to the same TORSO FRONT center, used Download PNG, and decoded the saved 585 × 559 file. We scanned the center row at alpha below 128 to count transparent pixels inside the red outer bounds. Roblox's classic clothing guide lists the Shirt FRONT square as 128 × 128 pixels; our editor marks it at x 128–255 and y 191–318.

The corresponding gaps also landed at the same saved x coordinates: 174; 190–191; and 207–208 at 45%, then 167–169; 190–191; and 212–213 at 60%. The red-pixel totals differed by 3 and 10 pixels between resolutions, so the entire raster was not identical. The measurement supports the narrower conclusion that these three center-row gaps had the same thresholded widths and positions at each setting.

What to change when your mark loses definition

A 1-pixel saved gap has very little room for later display scaling. In this test, changing Image size from 45% to 60% made the outer red area 28 pixels wider (84 to 112), while switching from 150 to 600 source pixels did not change that outer width. The slots were only 1–3 saved pixels across. For a real logo, use this as a reason to inspect the actual download at its native size and in a small preview, not as a universal minimum stroke rule.

  1. Keep a source copy. Save the editable original before simplifying thin lettering, outlines, or internal gaps.
  2. Place and export. Import it through the editor, choose an Image size that keeps the full art inside TORSO FRONT, and download the Shirt PNG.
  3. Inspect the saved detail. View the PNG at 100% and check the smallest gaps and strokes. Zooming the browser's editing canvas is not the same as enlarging pixels in the exported file.
  4. Revise one variable. If the detail is weak, widen the gap or stroke in the source design, remove nearby clutter, or enlarge the placed artwork while preserving a front-panel margin. Export again and compare the same region.
  5. Check the rig. Roblox recommends testing classic clothing in Studio. Apply the exported image to a Shirt on a Block Avatar and inspect the front and angled views before using it publicly.

Limit: Our slots are hard-edged and fully transparent. We did not measure real lettering, anti-aliased curves, compression, physical phone display, Studio rendering, or Marketplace acceptance. The alpha-128 scan is one defined threshold; a faint edge could produce a different measurement at another threshold. The test supports a comparison of these four exported files only.

Sources and reproducibility

The project's audit retains the exact browser test script and decoded result JSON. The four-row comparison, center-row gap diagram, pixel differences, and revision workflow were produced specifically for this page.
