Roblox Shirt Template Small Preview: Can a Thin Line Still Show?
In our 64 × 64 white-background preview, a one-pixel source line became faint; a two-pixel line kept stronger red pixels. We made six fresh Roblox shirt template exports, cropped each 128 × 128 FRONT panel, and reduced it by half. At our stronger color threshold, the one-pixel versions had zero qualifying preview pixels at both tested Image sizes, while the two-pixel versions had 42 and 166. This is a file preview, not a Roblox avatar render.
“Stronger” means a preview pixel's red channel exceeds both green and blue by at least 128 on a 0–255 scale. It is our measurement rule, not an editor setting or a human visibility score.
Six controlled previews from downloaded PNGs
We drew the same centered, red 45° line on six transparent 150 × 150 source PNGs. Source width was one, two, or three pixels. We imported each at 45% and 60% Image size, placed it on FRONT, and downloaded a 585 × 559 Shirt PNG. From each saved file, we cropped the official 128 × 128 front square and resampled it to 64 × 64 with browser canvas smoothing over white. The displayed images below are those test outputs at their native 64-pixel width.

What the 64-pixel files contain
For each preview pixel, we required the red channel to exceed both green and blue by at least 24, 64, or 128. We counted matching pixels. These are color-difference thresholds after white compositing and resizing; they differ from the alpha cutoffs used in our native export test.
| Source line / Image size | Red difference ≥24 | ≥64 | ≥128 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 px / 45% | 124 | 42 | 0 |
| 2 px / 45% | 212 | 124 | 42 |
| 3 px / 45% | 212 | 209 | 124 |
| 1 px / 60% | 166 | 56 | 0 |
| 2 px / 60% | 282 | 238 | 166 |
| 3 px / 60% | 394 | 282 | 166 |
At 45%, moving from one to two source pixels added 82 preview pixels at the middle threshold (124 − 42). At 60%, it added 182 (238 − 56). Increasing to three pixels raised stronger-color coverage again, but the line also grew heavier. All six previews had a red pixel in every row between their first and last red rows at the weakest threshold. So a continuous trace can still be too pale for a demanding color criterion.
How to check your own small design
- Export before judging. Download the Shirt PNG you actually plan to use; an enlarged editor canvas does not show the small-size result.
- Crop only FRONT. Use the 128 × 128 front panel as a fixed comparison area. Keep the same crop for every revision.
- Choose a display size and background. Our test uses 64 × 64 on white with smoothing. A different size, background, or scaler can change the result.
- Revise one variable. If a fine motif looks pale, widen its source stroke by one pixel and re-export at the same Image size. Check that adjacent letter spaces remain open.
- Check on the avatar. Roblox's classic clothing guide recommends testing a Shirt on a Studio Block Avatar before upload. That is the appropriate next check for 3D appearance.
Scope: These measurements cover one synthetic red diagonal in this browser editor, two Image sizes, one 64-pixel white preview, and browser canvas smoothing. We did not test legibility with human viewers, other colors, text, different scalers, Studio rendering, or Marketplace processing.
