Roblox Shirt Template Letter Counter: A 64-Pixel O Check

For a small O on a roblox shirt template, inspect the opening after export. In 12 saved 64 × 64 preview examples, the normal Arial O had a 35–36 pixel open span at its middle row; bold had 28 pixels. Bold gave more colored area in the earlier test, but narrowed this opening by at least seven pixels. These measurements do not establish which letter people can read more easily.

This is a pixel measurement of selected saved-export previews, not a Roblox rendering requirement.

What we measured

We reused the two original Shirt PNG exports from our normal-versus-bold O test. Each came from a red 90-pixel Arial O placed at the same size and position on the FRONT panel. The editor exported each at 585 × 559 pixels. The same 128 × 128 FRONT crop was scaled to 64 × 64 pixels over white/charcoal, cream/slate, or solid white. For each background we retained the previously measured lowest- and highest-signal checker positions: six preview PNGs per weight.

Our reproducible script samples row 32 of each PNG. It labels a pixel red when R > 100, R > 1.5 × G, and R > 1.2 × B. It finds the last red pixel left of column 32 and the first red pixel right of it; the columns strictly between those edges are the midline open span. For example, normal white/charcoal has red inner edges at x=13 and x=50, yielding 50 − 13 − 1 = 36 open pixels. Bold has edges at x=17 and x=46, yielding 28. This rule measures a horizontal slice, not the full enclosed area.

The 12 files show an eight-pixel reduction in most matched examples and a seven-pixel reduction in one. The bold opening is 8 ÷ 36 ≈ 22% narrower in the usual matched case. This complements the earlier colored-pixel count: stroke area and inner space move in opposite directions when the same letter is made heavier. A wider opening is not automatically more legible; recognition needs viewer testing.

Repeat the check on your design

  1. Make two copies of one letter on transparent images, changing only its weight. Keep size, color, and position fixed.
  2. Import each into the Shirt editor and download the PNGs. Work from those saved files rather than only the editor canvas.
  3. Crop the same FRONT square from each file. Roblox's classic clothing guide identifies FRONT as a 128 × 128 panel.
  4. Scale both crops to your intended display size using the same method. Inspect the open center on light and dark backgrounds at native size.
  5. If the character will be worn, use Roblox Studio to inspect the saved Shirt on an avatar from front and angled views before deciding.

Scope and sources

The result covers one character, Arial, one red, one panel placement, one 64-pixel size, and 12 selected phase examples. It does not cover all 384 earlier phase readings, other fonts, human recognition, or Studio appearance. The selected examples, measurement script, and full output are retained in the project audit. We reviewed the public Shirt pages at Customuse, Alive Games, and Template.net for this gap; their pages do not present this saved-preview counter measurement.
