TEMPLATE SIZE GUIDE · UPDATED SEPTEMBER 28, 2026

Roblox Shirt Template Size: 585×559 vs 512×512

Use 585 × 559 pixels for a Roblox Classic Shirt template. A Classic Shirt wraps the torso and arms. A Classic T-Shirt is a separate, square front-torso graphic; Roblox gives 512 × 512 pixels as an example. Our editor exports those two sizes respectively.

The 585 × 559 measurement comes from the PNG files in Roblox's linked template ZIP, checked on September 28, 2026. “512 × 512” is an example for T-Shirts in Roblox's documentation, not a universal requirement for all classic clothing.

Mapped regions cover the torso and arms. Start with the shirt layout and keep its panel positions intact.

A square graphic displayed on the front torso. This is the size our T-Shirt editor exports and the example size Roblox names.

Roblox's official clothing guide treats T-Shirts and Shirts as different asset types. It directs Shirt and Pants creators to its template files, while describing T-Shirts as square images. The downloaded official Shirt and Pants template PNGs each measured 585 × 559 pixels in our file check. See Roblox's classic clothing guide and its template ZIP.

Why swapping the sizes breaks the design

The Shirt image is a map of body surfaces, not one rectangular picture pasted on the chest. Roblox identifies 128 × 128 front and back torso regions, 64 × 128 side strips, 128 × 64 top and bottom regions, and 64 × 64 limb-end regions. Those panel sizes explain why artwork must line up with the Shirt layout. A square T-Shirt graphic does not carry that map.

Original size check: 585 × 559 = 327,015 canvas pixels; 512 × 512 = 262,144. The Shirt canvas has 64,871 more pixels, about 24.7% more. Pixel count alone does not make a T-Shirt image suitable for a Shirt: the mapped panels are the decisive difference.

Do not stretch a 512 × 512 chest graphic to 585 × 559 and expect sleeve artwork to appear. Choose the garment type first, then place the design on that garment's mapped canvas. This follows from Roblox's separate asset types and panel layout.

A five-step PNG export audit

This audit is specific to this site's browser editor. It checks the file you actually intend to use, so the filename is only a cue; the image properties are the evidence.

  1. Select Classic Shirt, Pants, or T-Shirt before placing artwork. The editor changes its canvas size when you switch. If you switch late, inspect the placement again because the target regions change.
  2. Use the guides to place artwork, then preview with guides hidden. The guides are an editing overlay. The site's Download PNG action serializes the artwork canvas, so guide lines are excluded from the export.
  3. Download PNG and reopen the saved file. Check the image properties or dimensions in an image editor. Expect 585 × 559 for Shirt or Pants, or 512 × 512 for this editor's T-Shirt. Do not rely on the size printed in a filename alone.
  4. Inspect an unpainted corner over a checkerboard background. If it is transparent, the checkerboard shows through. If it is solid white or black, the exported artwork contains those pixels. Transparency does not fix missing sleeve or torso panels.
  5. Test the image on a block avatar in Roblox Studio. Roblox documents a free Studio test before Marketplace upload. Use a Shirt object and its ShirtTemplate property for Shirts; use ShirtGraphic and Graphic for T-Shirts. Inspect the front, back, sides, and sleeve joins before submitting.

For a quick diagnosis, if the file is square but you wanted sleeves, return to the editor and select Classic Shirt. If it is 585 × 559 but looks wrong on the avatar, review the panel placement rather than resizing the entire image. If guide marks appear in the saved file, check whether you saved a screenshot instead of using Download PNG.

What we verified and what remains a preview

We measured both PNGs in Roblox's official template ZIP and checked the three canvas dimensions and PNG export path in this site's editor. The editor defines Shirt and Pants at 585 × 559 and T-Shirt at 512 × 512, then exports the artwork canvas as PNG. A correct size is only a file-level check; Roblox Studio is where you confirm that seams and placement look right on an avatar.
