How to Put Text on the Chest of a Roblox Shirt Template
For chest text in this editor, make the words as a transparent PNG, import it with Choose image, shrink it, and drag it into TORSO FRONT. The built-in Add text button writes at the center of the entire 585 × 559 canvas, outside most of the 128 × 128 front panel, and a drag does not move that text. In our exported-PNG test, imported text at 20% scale fit inside the front guide after dragging.
This is a placement result from this site's browser editor. Test the saved Shirt on a Roblox Studio Block Avatar before relying on its 3D appearance.
Why Add text lands away from the chest
Roblox's Classic clothing guide describes a 128 × 128 FRONT square for Shirts. In this editor, that square covers x 128–255 and y 191–318. Its center is x 192, y 255; the complete PNG's center is x 292.5, y 279.5. The Add text button writes at the latter point. It also places the letters directly into the drawing layer, so Move mode has no separate text object to drag.
The distinction matters for any short label, jersey name, or chest wordmark. Centering within the whole PNG is not the same as centering on the torso front. The visible guide is only a working overlay; the Download PNG file contains the artwork without guide labels.
Our two-path export test
We typed CHEST in the editor, selected red and 48 px, clicked Add, attempted a drag, and decoded each Download PNG export. Then we undid the text and made an original transparent 200 × 80 PNG bearing the same word, imported it through Choose image, selected 20% Image size, dragged it to the front, and decoded those exports too. The table gives the red-pixel bounds, inclusive, in the saved 585 × 559 PNG.
| Action | Visible red bounds | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Add text, 48 px | x 216–369; y 255–291 | Text crosses beyond the front square's right edge at x 255. |
| Drag in Move mode | x 216–369; y 255–291 | The text pixels did not move. |
| Import transparent word PNG, 20% | x 248–337; y 266–286 | Small enough to fit, but still near canvas center. |
| Drag imported word to front | x 147–237; y 241–262 | All measured red pixels fit inside TORSO FRONT. |
Two text placements in one coordinate map
Proportional boxes from the saved PNG measurements. They show bounds, not a Roblox avatar preview.
The final imported-word box leaves 19 pixels to the front square's left edge, 18 to its right edge, 50 above, and 56 below. These are measured margins for this sample, not a universal font-size setting. A longer word or different font needs a smaller Image size or a shorter label. Text sharpness also depends on the PNG you make and how far you scale it.
Test scope: our browser test measured exported pixels and the editor guide. We did not test the design on a Roblox Studio rig or submit it to the Marketplace.
Put your own words on the front
- Choose Classic Shirt. Use the mapped Shirt canvas when the artwork should belong to a Shirt rather than a front-only T-Shirt graphic.
- Create a transparent text image. In an image editor, put the words on a transparent background and save a tightly cropped PNG. Leave a little transparent breathing room around the letters.
- Choose image and reduce Image size. The import starts at the full-canvas center. Lower the slider until the visible letters are narrower than the TORSO FRONT guide; 20% worked for our 200 × 80 sample, not every design.
- Drag the imported image. Move its visible letters toward the front guide's center near x 192, y 255. Check both ends of the word against the green square.
- Download and inspect the PNG. Confirm the word sits within x 128–255 and y 191–318, the guides are absent, and the file is 585 × 559. Then follow Roblox's Studio testing steps for a Block Avatar before uploading.
If the letters are still misplaced
| What happened | Next action |
|---|---|
| Add text stayed in the middle after dragging | Use Undo to remove it, then import a transparent text PNG that Move mode can reposition. A no-op drag may add an Undo step. |
| The imported word crosses a panel edge | Reduce Image size and drag again; inspect visible letter pixels, including any shadow or outline. |
| The word looks blurry | Create a larger, sharper source PNG and scale down in the editor rather than enlarging a tiny raster file. |
| You want only a front graphic | Check the Shirt versus T-Shirt workflow before starting the design. |
For a picture mark instead of text, see the measured logo placement guide. The panel map explains where the other Shirt regions are.
